UmpireDuty operates the Platform at umpireduty.com and portal.umpireduty.com. For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, UmpireDuty is the data controller of your personal information.

2. Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of personal data:

3. How We Use Your Data
We use your personal data only for the following purposes:
- Providing the Platform: Account creation, authentication, booking management, and in-app messaging.
- Platform improvements: Analysing usage patterns to improve features and fix bugs.
- Communications: Sending booking confirmations, cancellation notices, and service announcements to your registered email address.
- Security and fraud prevention: Detecting and preventing abuse, fraud, and unauthorised access.
- Legal compliance: Meeting obligations under applicable law.
We do not use your data for advertising or sell it to third-party marketers.
4. Sharing Your Data
We share personal data only in the following limited circumstances:
Between users on the Platform
When a booking is created, the Member's name and booking details are visible to the booked Umpire, and vice versa. Profile information that you mark as public is visible to other users searching the Platform.
Firebase / Google LLC
We use Firebase (a Google service) for authentication, database storage (Firestore), and hosting. Your data is stored on Google's servers subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Google Cloud terms.
Legal requirements
We may disclose your data if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of UmpireDuty, its users, or the public.
Business transfers
If UmpireDuty is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before your data is subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or regulatory purposes.
Booking records may be retained in anonymised form for platform analytics purposes.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS/HTTPS), Firebase Authentication for secure sign-in, and access controls to limit who within our team can access user data. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Cookies & Tracking

8. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and personal data.
- Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to processing of your data for certain purposes.
- Withdrawal of consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

9. California Residents — CCPA Rights
Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) give you additional rights:
- Right to Know: You may request details about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, our business purpose for collecting it, and the categories of third parties we share it with.
- Right to Delete: You may request deletion of personal information we have collected from you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Correct: You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing: We do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising.
- Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights.
- Sensitive Personal Information: We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined under CPRA beyond what is necessary to operate the Platform.
To submit a CCPA request, email hello@umpireduty.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request". We will verify your identity before processing the request and respond within 45 days.
10. India — Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023
India Residents
If you are located in India, your personal data is processed in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) and the Information Technology Act, 2000.
Consent: By registering on the Platform, you provide your free, specific, informed, unconditional, and unambiguous consent to the processing of your personal data as described in this Policy.
Data Fiduciary: UmpireDuty acts as the Data Fiduciary for your personal data. We process data only for the purposes described in this Policy.
Your rights under the DPDP Act include:
- Right to access information about your personal data being processed.
- Right to correction and erasure of your personal data.
- Right to grievance redressal — contact us at hello@umpireduty.com.
- Right to nominate a person to exercise your rights in the event of your incapacity or death.
Cross-border transfers: Your data may be transferred to and stored on Google Firebase servers outside India. Such transfers are made in accordance with applicable law and Google's data processing agreements.
Grievance Officer: For data-related grievances, contact hello@umpireduty.com. We will acknowledge your grievance within 48 hours and resolve it within 30 days.
11. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed to individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you believe we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, please contact us immediately at hello@umpireduty.com and we will delete it promptly.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a prominent notice on the Platform at least 30 days before the changes take effect. The updated Policy will include a new effective date at the top.
